The people who purchase these hard drives can then access the information on them, even if they have been wiped. Real Story bought 17 hard drives from Nigeria at £15 each and, using a computer expert, found the owners' addresses, bank account numbers, sort codes, passwords and other highly confidential information. Follow the tips in our Safe Computing Guide to dispose of your computer hard drive securely.
